This is a free workshop for emerging filmmakers to explore and learn basic skills and tools for digital filmmaking to produce short films that will premiere at the 2019 Viet Film Fest in October. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the production process - from storytelling to camera work to editing - and put their skills to practice. Anyone between the ages of 17-22 years old who is interested is welcome to apply! Those with little to no experience is particularly encouraged.

The Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association (VAALA) invites local Vietnamese American young women (ages 16-22) to participate in a new workshop series, Gallery Beyond Walls: Project Fôtô. Our program is inclusive and welcomes all women-identified and non-binary individuals regardless of gender expression. Made possible with support from the Garden Grove Community Foundation, Macy’s, and Union Bank, this project empowers and encourages participants to express their ar...tistic talents and explore their imagination, as well as learn more about themselves, their family, community, culture and history. Throughout the program, 20 participants in the Orange County area will be mentored by professional artists on different visual mediums (photography, video, and printmaking). At the end of the program, the participants will have the opportunity to share their work in a public exhibition. The workshops are free and no previous experience in photo, film, or printmaking is required to participate! There will be a total of 10 meetings, on Sundays, from March through May 2018 at the VAALA Cultural Center. LOCATION: VAALA Cultural Center 1600 N.
