SDYC is looking back through 90 years of the Junior Program this year, and with that comes with a reflection on many other aspects of SDYC history, including the International Masters Regatta! In 1984, the regatta was won by Ash Bown, who some say was the beginning of junior participation. From the January 2019 Mainsheet: ... "One could say that the beginning of junior participation began with fourteen-year-old Ashley Bown as a crew member on the 56-foot yawl Teva in the 1926 Honolulu Race. According to skipper Clem Stose, without Bown, they would not have won third place, and probably would never have gotten to Honolulu at all. He became commodore in 1969." See more
