For those who are wondering...we are still in the office working on serving our clients tax and accounting needs. We ARE severely limiting client F2F interaction...we are working with our clients via phone and internet. So far, so good... For many of my clients all over the country and world, this is nothing new. For my local clients, it is a bit of a eye-opener...we live in interesting times! Secretary of the Treasury Mnuchin has announced that the IRS will be allowing th...ose with balances due to the IRS to defer those payments WITHOUT interest OR penalties until 7/15/2020. HOWEVER, we have seen nothing announced on the IRS website (www.IRS.gov). Further, this DOES NOT EXTEND the 4/15/2020 filing deadline. A tax return or an extension is STILL required (though we expect that there will be relief provisions for those who were unable to get a return or an extension filed). OUR INTENTION is to file tax returns or extensions for our clients. Of course, this could be limited or restricted by Quarantines or Restrictions that could be put into place by National, State or Local officials. We anticipate that this could happen. The State of California issued a press release on Saturday afternoon indicating that they would be deferring the filing deadline for those AFFECTED by Covid19 until 6/15/2020. They did not define affected, but it is believed that this will be left to individuals to self describe themselves as "affected'. We believe that by 4/15/2020 we will all be affected in one way or another. We hope all of our clients, friends and family good health and safety in these times of global uncertainty. We feel confident that this will wash through in a few weeks and most of us will have few if any long-lasting effects. In the meantime, we believe that the most important things to do are: remain calm and rational - this will all work itself out; and: be kind to others, they may not be as calm as you. We are in this together, and together we will clean up and go on after this storm has passed.
