Final handoff today!

Masquers Playhouse 15.09.2020

I'm just home from our fire inspection...we passed! The inspection went perfectly. We have one final building inspection on September 26 which is expected to have no problems since our project had the individual components inspected as they were completed. Today's fire inspection was by far the most critical of all the inspections. And we passed!! I feel like a million pounds have been lifted from my shoulders. After the final building inspection, we close the chapter on four... and a half years of being homeless - cancellations, uncertainty, and darkness. We begin a new chapter that will feature our mighty comeback. It starts with moving back into our space and getting it ready for shows! To the team that rallied together these last 6 weeks to finish all the details - Thank you so much for your hard and tedious work! I'm also abundantly grateful to our partners at Overaa Construction and Interactive Resources (especially Charlie Duncan). Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! And to those that gave $1 or $100,000 or anywhere in between - you believed in this project when it was barely on paper! Now, we are finished. Thank you for making this a reality! We did it! -Carl

If only we had an oracle like Pythia or a fortune-telling crone like the Addams family's grandma, or even a pretty good Magic 8-ball, we'd have more solid information on how 2021 will unfold in our new, safe, and exceedingly cool-looking updated theater. As it is for everybody in our country today, we don't know what the next few months will bring. We do know that our community's health is our first priority, and we won't open until it's safe for everyone. So what happens ne...xt? Well, we get creative. And we plan for the day we can open, no matter when that might be. To that end, we've chosen a slate of plays that we can't wait to see performed in our new space. We think these shows evoke a broad range of the human condition, as well as provide a showcase for the creativity and vision of the directors. What ties them all together is what we're all holding on to right now; love in all its messy, unpredictable, shape-shifting forms.

Masquers Playhouse is grieving the loss on a dear friend and longtime leader and volunteer. While no stranger to the stage, she enjoyed serving behind the scenes. Her mother served as the Managing Director for many years, and Julie served on our volunteer staff for many years and as production crew for countless shows. After you watch the video, please share memories, photos, or love with her family and friends by leaving a comment on her memorial wall at https://padlet.com/secretary30/r2pcfdwooxpncp38
