Local standouts Leanne Jarvis, Holly Tarr set to be honored by Northern California Sports Association Two local prep standouts will be honored on Saturday night by the Northern California Sports Association. Per yearly tradition, the NCSA will hand out scholarships to local athletes as part of their Hall of Fame induction ceremony.... Those athletes will each receive scholarships worth $2,500. All proceeds from this yearly Hall of Fame banquet fund the scholarships. River Valley High senior Leanne Jarvis and Marysville senior Holly Tarr are the two local athletes set to be honored. Tarr has been a multi-sport standout as well, earning four varsity letters in basketball and track, along with three in volleyball and two more with the boys golf team. In all of those seasons playing sports, Tarr has earned All-Academic Golden Empire League honors each season. Last year, she was named to the Appeal-Democrat's All-Area track squad as well as earning GEL Field Athlete of the Year honors. Tarr plans to attend UC Santa Barbara next year on a track scholarship and throw the javelin. Along with her strong academic and athletic achievements, Tarr has volunteered her time in youth sports in the community, served as president of the Marysville High Interact Club and she has also donated her services to various on-campus clubs. Austin Clark (West Valley-Cottonwood), Angelica Arellano (Winters), Macaylea Mitchell (Placer-Auburn) and Leonard Andrew (Bear River-Lake of the Pines) will also receive scholarships. These scholarship recipients, along with the 10 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored on Saturday night at St. Isidore Catholic Church's Parish Hall in Yuba City, beginning with a cocktail reception at 4:30 p.m. Tickets to attend cost $30.
