The Friends of the Marysville Stampede Committee were honored to donate $2,000 to the Marysville Firemen’s Association. During the photo, the crew was called out to serve the community. In 2020 the Friends of the Marysville Stampede Committee were honored to have had a helping hand in donating over $16,000 to three local worthy causes. $10,000 of that Pink Raffle Ticket fundraiser was donated to the, Geweke Caring for Women Foundation. It was an honor to present this donation to such a worthy local cause lead by Larry Geweke. His two daughters featured in the photo (Kellie Geweke Sheeran & Nancy Geweke Elrod) are members of both the Caring for Women Founda...tion and serve on the Friends of the Marysville stampede Committee, volunteering their time to help the community. *Today, Friday May 7th edition of the Appeal, featured a full page thank you ad, with photos and more information. Last year, despite Covid-19 limitations and the cancelation of the 2020 Stampede, the Friends of the Marysville Stampede Committee were able to hold the Pink Raffle Fundraiser. With local donations, support from volunteers who sold tickets and those who purchased tickets, we were able to donate $16,000. Yuba-Sutter K-9 Officers Association was one of three that received a donation. Committee members were proud to present a $2,000 check to Officer, Kenny Sowles and his K9 partner Riggs. *Check out the Friday - 5/7 Appeal, which will feature a full page thank you ad, featuring more photos and information.

Growing up in California, Cotton Rosser always wanted to be a rodeo cowboy. He studied animal science at California Polytechnic, competing on the rodeo team. In... 1950, Rosser won the intercollegiate all-around and the saddle bronc championships. He and his teammates won 41 national collegiate championships. His rodeo career was cut short when he suffered a debilitating ranch accident. Rosser partnered with Dick Pascoe to purchase the Flying U Rodeo Company in 1955, the first stock contracting company to offer a comprehensive rodeo package that included promotional consultants, contract acts and noteworthy bucking stock. In 1960, Rosser merged with Ed Rutherford and Lex Connolly to form the Golden State Rodeo Company. In the 1970s, the Flying U resurfaced and Rosser assumed all operations. He started the born to buck breeding program that has produced many champions over the past few decades. Always a showman, Rosser worked to keep rodeo entertainment colorful with flamboyant, patriotic presentations. He brought high school rodeo to California and helped organize many state high school organizations. Rosser has been honored as the Most Colorful Man In Rodeo by the PRCA, named Stock Contractor of the Year and inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Rosser is a true rodeo visionary who has contributed to the development of rodeo as a professional sport, business and family entertainment.
