Where I left off at the beginning of March. For those that have asked for pieces, thanks for your interest. For those that have bought from the little investory I had left, thank you, thank you, thank you. I haven’t returned to the studio yet but hope to be back next week and get some stuff out before I start grad school in July.

So this is happening for the next two years....... Before I submerged myself in the craft world and went off to study @alchimia_jewellery my time was spent in archives and the halls of the history department at the University of Puerto Rico where I almost completed a previous MA in history. I dropped all that and ran away to learn to work with metal and explore the incredible material possibilities that can become a jewel. It has been an intense love affair, one that is far from over but which I will now reconnect with other interests and my love for research and archives. I am throughly excited to be part of this program @macraftstudieswwc and to think, research,and write through the lens of craft alongside an inspiring group of teachers and future colleagues! #backtogradschool #macraftstudieswwc #thisiscraft

Woke up today with jewelry on my mind. Not only missing my bench and torch and making pieces but my my morning ritual of choosing what pieces to wear for the day. I admit I haven’t worn shoes in days but I’ve been wearing earrings most days.

All these earrings are part of my insta sale!! Sadly one of my main stockists in the east coast closed its retail and gallery space and sent back this great batch of earrings! All are super discounted and are part of work I will not continue as I transition to new projects and a new body of work. Check my stories for more info!! And thanks for looking!

Slowly finishing up a few pieces

From my days of sewing and fashion I’ve always love embroidery and beading. Thru the years I’ve kept doing it as a hobby, makimg small sketches in freehand embroidery and beads. I had never incorporated it in my work but have been really inspired to do it lately by seeing the works of some really cool artists that are using bead embroidery in there work. @corpulence_drip and @louisemeuwissen being two of my faves! I mention them because I really believe in giving credit to those we are inspired by and always try to be extremely conscious of our influences so as we not end up blatantly copying those we admire. It happens to often and is infuriating and sad. So here is to a new year and the excitment of new inspirations and directions!! This one is a brooch!

After a nice break spending time with family and enjoying showing them around the lovely SD I’m getting ready this week for Friday and @shopmingei awesome Holiday Market. Come join us @artsdistrictlibertystation in the halls around the store from 6-8!
