6th grade parents. There will be a 6th grade camp orientation Thursday, September 1 at 5:15pm in English and 6pm for Spanish in room 19. Please make every effort to attend. Questions, Mr. Ortega at 559.900.5732.
As a teacher for 20 years I have witnessed some of the craziest and coolest things ever. I took my daughter to King Elementary's father-daughter dance. The DJ was great and played awesome music. Dads warmed up and were doing their thing. The DJ then had all the dads take their daughters and danced to the song, "My Girl". Every dad started singing to their girl. Even me. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Proud.
Parents: Please join us for our Hispanic Heritage Celebration progam on Friday, May 27th at 9:30am in the cafeteria. Enjoy the talents and sounds of King students as they celebrate the many traditions of their culture. Questions, call Mr. Ortega at 457-2970.

King basketball went into the lion's den of Kirk Elementary today. The girls fought a hard battle against a very aggressive team. We worked hard but came up short losing 20-8. Girls are now 1-1. Our boys started out very flat and only led 5 to 4 in the quarter. Our boys then woke up with a fury and relentlessly attacked Kirk winning 37-9. Our boys are 2-0. Next, King will host Columbia on Friday, February 5th. Girls at 2:30, boys at 3:30. Go Pharaohs!
Pharaohs. Wrestling and track and field season will begin soon. Please talk with Mr. Sanchez for wrestling and Mrs. Tatum for track. Go Pharaohs!
Big day for King sports on Friday. Our basketball teams went to Lincoln for the first game of the season. Our girls battled hard and played with heart and pulled out the victory winning 18 to 17. Our boys took to the court to defend their title and came out with a 36 to 18 victory. Next week we visit the Kirk Lions. Game starts at 2:30pm. Go Pharaohs!
Pharaoh parents. Today Mr. Ortega is a proud teacher. Our 6th grade students went to Gaston Middle School for an orientation to show our kids what they offer. Our kids were well behaved and had no issues. It is expected of every student to be respectful. This is not what I am proud about. What I saw was amazing. We had 70 students last year. Today I saw former students involved in folklorico dance, hip hop dancers, leadership, band, choir, mens alliance, and other activities. We counted 24 former King students doing great things and getting involved. Last year we had not one involved. We stressed the importance of making a difference and these kids got the message! Even better when they all came up to us and gave us a shake and a hug. Proud Pharaoh.
Pharaoh sports. Good luck to our soccer team as they prepare for the district tournament this Saturday. Thanks to Mr. Sanchez for coaching our future Valley Champs. Also, basketball is in full swing. First game is against Lincoln at home on January 15th. Go Pharaohs!
Pharaoh parents. Santa will be coming to King this Friday! This annual event is for all King students. Thank you Mrs. Baker for coordinating this event. All students even the 6th graders are excited to see the big guy.
Pharaoh parents. 6th grade will be going to Gaston Middle School tomorrow for a visitation and presentation. First step in the transition to 7th grade. Leaving at 8:45 and coming back by 12:00.
