It is likely that if you are suffering with chronic gut issues or have SIBO/IBS you have been told to avoid lectins, oxalates, phytates, FODMAPs, aka plant foods/fiber in general. This is not the entire story and the missing context could be the difference between healing your microbiome and leaving it broken for a long time. Who doesn’t love the comfort of a #GoodGut soup? (We know, we know, we’re obsessed) Whether having it while on the mend or to satisfy a craving, we feel soup is never the wrong choice! What components does a #GoodGut soup contain? ... Plenty of veggies! Soups are a great vehicle to introduce a greater variety of prebiotic-filled veggies to your littles while they’re developing their gut microbiome in an easily-digested way. You can leave them whole or blend them to enjoy as a fam. A satiating starch- your good bugs love starch and incorporating it into meals like soup can be a wonderful place. A protein pump for satiety to take your soup from a side to a main A textured topping (optional) to keep things fun and fresh while chewing! One of our household go-tos when it comes to #GoodGut soups is a Chickpea Miso Noodle Soup, complete with both prebiotic and probiotics, it’s a party for your gut bugs and your mouth! If you want to change the world, go home and love your family -Mother Teresa. Being a mama is the greatest blessing, greatest lesson, toughest hat to wear, & most important thing I will ever do in my life. An honor I don’t take lightly or for granted. What I share on this platform, with my patients, and others I educate is such an important part of who I am and how I share love through what I know with the world. ... Above that and anything else I do, strengthening Leila to become a confident, passionate, strong, kind, empathetic, loving queen in this world always comes first. Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong mamas who are raising our future change-makers. To the mamas who go to work each day to share their gifts with others, though every single time they leave their babes is just as hard as the first. To the mamas who stay home with their little loves, sacrificing alone time to pour their all into their little people. To the mamas who get to love and raise both their babies and grand babies. To those who aren’t mamas by blood, but by love. You’re amazing! Thank you for being you! We’re sending special love to those who long to be mamas, mamas of rainbow babies, and angel babies , those who may have a tough relationship with their mamas, and all the mamas who celebrate with us today-especially our mamas and sisters! The name mom is an honor, a blessing, a trust, and my absolute favorite word to hear as my alarm clock each morning #mothersday #happymothersday #love #girlmom #boymom #rainbowbaby #mom #mommy #mama #minime #mommyandme #veganmom #strongwomen #stronggirls #futureboss @florezmedia @ Laguna Beach, California

Thank you Center for Food Safety! A long road ahead! Why does this matter? Toxic chemicals have no place on our soils, on our food, and in our bodies.

Fascinating! New study in Cell Metabolism suggests that food colorants metabolized by commensal bacteria promote colitis in mice with dysregulated expression of interleukin-23. The azo dyes Red 40 and Yellow 6, the most abundant food colorants in the world, can trigger an IBD-like colitis in mice conditionally expressing IL-23, or in two additional animal models in which IL-23 expression was augmented. ... Increased IL-23 expression led to generation of activated CD4+ T cells that expressed interferon- and transferred disease to mice exposed to Red 40. Colitis induction was dependent on the commensal microbiota such as B. ovatus and E. faecalis promoting the azo reduction of Red 40 and generation of a metabolite, 1-amino-2-naphthol-6-sulfonate sodium salt. Together these findings suggest that specific food colorants represent novel risk factors for development of colitis in mice with increased IL-23 signaling. https://www.sciencedirect.com//a/abs/pii/S1550413121001819
