At the time of its 2015 sale, it was the largest cushion-...shaped Fancy Vivid pink diamond ever sold at auction and one of only three fancy pink diamonds weighing more than 10 carats to be sold in the past 250 years. The purchaser was a Hong Kong billionaire who named the diamond after his seven-year-old daughter, Josephine! A mere day later, he purchased a blue diamond that he named the Blue Moon of Josephine, also after his daughter. A diamond in the rough. Through careful planning, cutting and polishing, this 13.33 carat pink rough crystal was transformed into a 5.63 carat Fancy Vivid purpl...ish pink pear-shape diamond. The diamond was named the Graff Lesotho Pink after the company that purchased it and the country where it was found. This adorable geode rocked our world and put a smile on our faces! Dubbed the "Cookie Monster" geode after the Sesame Street character, this volcanic agate geod...e was found by a miner in a riverbed in Soledade, Brazil in November, 2020. A GIA graduate then contacted California-based geologist, Mike Bowers, who purchased this extraordinary find. Collectors have offered him over US$10,000 for this geode. That's enough to buy a lot of cookies! Pumpkin spice and everything nice. Nothing says fall like pumpkins (or the Pumpkin Diamond). The 5.54-carat, Fancy Vivid orange Pumpkin Diamond was auctioned of...f on Halloween Eve in 1997 to Harry Winston, who purchased it for $1.3 million. Discovered in the Central African Republic (reportedly by a farmer), it was initially an unassuming, brown-looking rough. A diamond purveyor bought it on a leap of faith.
