Some Thursday fun! Welcome back!

Mark A. Barraza DDS 05.11.2020

GOOD NEWSUpdate. The team here at our office wants you to know we are thinking of you. We hope to re-open in early May - we will let you know as soon as we have an open date. In the meantime, we want to share some of the things we have been working on here at our office to prepare for a safe re-opening: We are installing medical-grade air purifiers to help keep you, and our team, safe.... We will be limiting the number of people we provide care to at one time to ensure appropriate physical distancing. We will be asking patients to wait in their vehicles and we will text you when your room and provider are ready for you. We will also be taking your temperature with an infrared no-hands thermometer to help ensure a safe environment for everyone. You may also notice different masks and uniforms. We want to assure you we have the best sterilization protocols in place and are closely following CDC recommendations. We have also added Teledentistry as a service to our patients. This service may involve taking pictures of your teeth, gum tissue, or area of concern so we may assess the best course of treatment. Contact us to share a narrative of your symptoms and we will be more than happy to have a conference call with you to address any dental related issues you may have. We will continue weekly announcements to update you on any changes in our office protocol as the COVID-19 situation continues to develop. And as always we will seek guidance from the CDC and health experts. Through these challenges, we have gained an even greater appreciation for you, our patients, and we are committed to keeping you safe while you are in our hands. We wish all of you good health and we look forward to seeing you again soon. If you have any questions or a dental emergency, please call our office and we can set up a teleconference with you. We are here for you. Sincerely, Mark A. Barraza DDS and staff (619) 425-7700

Sometimes it’s hard to understand just how bad things are when murder and mayhem is just normal. This graphic puts just how bad things are in real context.

Backpack? Check. Booster shots? Check. Teeth cleaning? Check! Regular dental visits are important year-round, but a back-to-school checkup is key in fighting the most common chronic disease found in school-age children: cavities. In fact, dental disease causes children to miss more than 51 million school hours each year. Prevention and early detection can help avoid pain, trouble eating, difficulty speaking and school absences. When people are beginning to do their pediatrician checks to make sure their kids are school-ready, make sure teeth are part of it!"

A woman and her husband interrupted their vacation to go to the dentist. "I want a tooth pulled, and I don't want Novacaine because I'm in a big hurry," the woman said. "Just extract the tooth as quickly as possible, and we'll be on our way." The dentist was quite impressed. "You're certainly a courageous woman," he said. "Which tooth is it?" The woman turned to her husband and said, "Show him your tooth, dear."
