Students who live in and are enrolled in Mariposa County work as part of the museum's Student Docent Program. Docents greet visitors, answer questions, process transactions in the gift store, and assist museum staff with tasks as needed. As student docents gain experience, they will have opportunities to work with the archives and collections. Please do not apply online. Applicants must come to the museum in person to pick up an application.
The museum is gearing up to hire student docents for the summer season! Each year, the museum employs students in Mariposa County as part of our Student Docent Program. Students begin their work here as museum docents, and as they gain experience and knowledge, are able to help us with the archives and collections. In order to keep this program going, we rely on contributions from our community. Please consider donating to the Student Docent Program! https://www.mariposamuseum.com/donate
Happy Birthday President Grant The 18th President of the United States was born April 27, 1822. After leaving office, Grant and his wife Julia would embark on a 2 year tour of the world. They would arrive in California on Sept. 20, 1879. The President was much in demand all over but he decided that a trip to Yosemite was a priority. He was driven by George Monroe, who's picture and story are shared at the Museum. The Grant's trip included a stop in Mariposa where they would v...isit the Schlageter Hotel. On March 1, 1872 Grant signed legislation establishing Yellowstone as the nation's first national park. Yosemite would follow on October 1, 1890 See more

Phyllis Irene Faust left her Earthly body on the night of November 21st, 2020. While it’s been a shock and not what anyone expected, she leaves behind only the ...warmest thoughts and love for a woman who was stronger beyond strength. Phyllis has done so much for so many, led a life of value and virtue, gave birth to three children and mothered countless more. She welcomed her 7th grandchild, Ronin, just last month. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers at this time, just know that mom would not want anyone upset at her passing. She welcomed the next step in her journey and wanted everyone to celebrate that. Information for services will be announced at a later date.
