Marin Primary & Middle School

Marin Primary & Middle School has a longstanding partnership and cultural exchange with Colegio Williams in Cuernavaca, Mexico. We have both a pen pal program and a teacher exchange, where MP&MS sends a team of teachers to CWC in the Fall and MP&MS receives a teaching team from CWC in the Spring. This year, MP&MS teachers Nora Bailetti, Silvia Flores-Vasquez, Mona Lea, and Kristine Munro are in Cuernavaca from November 29 - December 9. MP&MS teachers bring global citizenship to life through this teacher exchange program, deepening cultural understanding and fostering a long-term connection with an international school community. #mpmsconnected #mpmsglobalcitizenship #mpmstreasuringchildhood

Our 7th Grade Panthers have been volunteering at the SF Marin Food Bank this week. They are also collecting canned and dry goods on campus to encourage all of our students to play a role in helping our community. At MP&MS we believe that our world requires us to be problem solvers and collaborators, and this week our 7th graders are doing their part to be both. #mpmsconnected #mpmscommunityservice

Throughout the last few weeks the MP&MS Spanish Department has been preparing for Día de los Muertos. This celebration is made possible by the collaboration of students across our divisions, and led by our sixth grade Panthers. Although it falls very near Halloween and features skulls, skeletons, and spirits, Día de los Muertos is a joyful holiday. The emphasis is on celebrating and honoring the lives of the deceased, rather than fearing evil or malevolent spirits. We have a... traditional altar or ofrenda with artwork, flowers, bright fabric, candy skulls, and photographs of loved ones who have passed away. The whole school community is invited to contribute to the altar by bringing a photograph or drawing to place on the altar. #mpmsconnected #mpmsspanishdepartment

We talk a lot about gratitude at MP&MS this time of year and today our cup is full! The Harvest Festival returned to campus after two years and our Head of School Phil said it best, It was simply wonderful. A huge shout out to all of the parent and student volunteers, the musicians, the teachers, and especially Angela for making this day possible.... It was not your average Tuesday around here, Governor Gavin Newsom made a cameo on campus this afternoon. After taking a moment on Joe Wagner Field to reflect on his love of baseball and the escape it provided from his childhood struggles with dyslexia, he made time to talk to some lucky Panthers and to sign autographs. We are excited to know that our own copy of the Governor’s new book ’ , which discusses his childhood struggles and successes right here in Larkspur, will be in our library when it is released. #mpmslibrary #mpmsconnected

At MP&MS we talk alot about connection, but what does that mean? MP&MS 8th grader Brianna is a perfect example. Not only is she an active member of her middle school class, but she is profoundly engaged in her larger community as well. Over our winter break Brianna secured the funds to procure 100 gifts for children and 59 meals for seniors in partnership with @homewardboundmarin Join us in celebrating Brianna and all students who walk the MP&MS walk. As a dynamic, and enthusiastic member of the larger community, Brianna is the embodiment of #mpmsconnected.
