Mariners Church 30.10.2020

Ever since March, our online community has increasingly grown. We are so grateful how you have connected with our church online and how you have shared our services with people all over the world! Last Saturday, we had this wonderful opportunity to BAPTIZE 'Judy from Portland'. The previous week, her sister, who attends Mariners, tracked down one of our 'blue shirt' volunteers and asked if Judy could be baptized because she was visiting her from Portland for her birthday. ...Of course, we said YES! Judy had begun watching services online for the first time during the pandemic. She was going through some very tough life circumstances and during one of our online services she said "I BELIEVE!" and made a commitment to Jesus. She even sought prayer through our prayer team and began her journey with Jesus. As we were sharing stories and explaining the reason for baptism to her sisters and those around, I introduced her as 'JUDY from Portland'. Bill and Sue Baden, shepherding elders, were at the elder prayer tent and said "WE KNOW HER!" Apparently, Sue had been the one who has been praying and connecting with Judy these past couple of months! She ran over and gave Judy a big hug!!! We love how God wrote this story and we got to be a part of Judy's journey. Being so far away, Judy had a church family that had been ministering to her through our online community, worship services, and prayer team. It took a village to nurture her spiritually, and she wasn’t alone this whole time! By the way, last Friday was her birthday, and Saturday was her Baptism day. It was a great weekend to celebrate! Every weekend we have people, like Judy, on the verge of life-changing decisions at all of our worship gatherings throughout OC and even in Portland. We can’t wait to worship with you THIS WEEKEND Online and In-person! We are launching a new teaching series The Art of Skillful Living & NEW SATURDAY SERVICE TIMES at 4 & 5:30p @MarinersIrvine! marinerschurch.org See more

This reminder from @MarinersCollege Pastor, Steve Bang Lee, is so relevant today. The struggles we have faced in 2020 have been big, but God is bigger and He's got today and tomorrow under control!

We loved this inspiring story about Keshia Thomas and how she displayed God's HESED love to others. Keshia Thomas was a high school senior when her photo became LIFE photo of the year in 1996, but what is Keshia Thomas doing now? Several years ago, when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, there was another news article about Keshia. Keshia was distributing food, bringing supplies to people in need and she was still insisting that people were treated with care and respect and dignity. That's what happens when you get a taste of God's faithful love for you, you want to share this hesed love with others. Do you want to see God's faithful love expressed to others?
