Help us welcome to the MMCC team - Dr. Sasha Troiano - our new Associate Vet Dr. Sasha comes to us from @crowclinic where she completed a wildlife and conservation internship. Troiano, who grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, received a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Science in aquatic and fishery sciences before completing a master’s in aquatic and fishery sciences (fish toxicology) at the University of Washington in Seattle. She went on to earn her doctora...te at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She has also completed externships at Cape Wildlife Center, the Florida Aquarium, Shedd Aquarium, Sea World San Antonio, Milwaukee Zoo and a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the University of Illinois. So far Dr. Sasha has hit the ground running - working closely with Dr. Palmer and the marine mammals we have in care. See more

Have you met Freedom, the California sea lion who was entangled in a gillnet? He was rescued in Redondo Beach with a severe laceration and opened wound where the net was wrapped around his neck. Freedom was successfully rehabilitated and released on Election Day. Happy World Turtle Day! Sea turtles play an important role in our ocean ecosystems by maintaining healthy seagrass and coral populations, but they are seriously affected by human actions like overfishing and pollution.
