Red Flag Warning and Burn Ban in Effect for Marin County Gusty offshore winds tonight and Monday will result in critical fire weather conditions. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Marin County from 11 PM tonight through 5 PM PST Monday. Effective immediately there is a Burn Ban in effect for Marin through December 9th. There is also a High Surf Warning from 5 PM Monday to 5 PM Tuesday.

Update 10/31 @ 7:30 am , forward progress of the fire has been stoped. 1.3 Acres in total. Crews will remain at the scene for the day. Fire is under investigation. Marin County Fire is at scene of a 2 acre fire in the area of the Bolinas Y (Bolinas Ridge). Resources are making access onto the Golden Gate National Recreation Area , NPS Land. No evacuation orders or warnings are currently in place as of 10/31 @7:13 am.

Items to take if time allows: Easily carried valuables Family photos and other irreplaceable items Personal computer information on hard drives and disks Chargers for cell phones, laptops, etc. Always keep a sturdy pair of shoes and a flashlight near your bed and handy in case of a sudden evacuation at night. Kerith the MCFD therapy dog has been busy visiting Base Camps throughout the State and just got back. She visited our Headquarters station today and did an interview with ABC 7 News. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is real in the fire service. Improving behavioral health awareness means understanding the urgent need for PTSD care, as well as treatment for depression and anxiety. Kerith assists in this support network as our firefighters, law enforcement partners, and dispatchers, take a much need breath between incidents.

The NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for Marin County from 11 p.m. Monday, October 19th, to 8 a.m. Wednesday, October 21st.

The Fire Weather Watch issued a Red Flag Warning due to the confidence of strong offshore winds out of the north-northeast. In addition, two new areas were added to the Warning: The North Bay Valleys and East Bay Valleys. Strongest offshore winds are still expected to be at higher elevations, above 1000 feet, with winds 15 to 30 mph, gusts generally 35 to 45 mph with max gusts around 55 mph. Valley locations can expect winds from 10-20 mph, with occasional gusts around 30 mph. Strongest winds are expected overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. A secondary period of strong winds is expected Thursday evening into Friday morning, but to a lesser degree compared to Wednesday night. With dry conditions in place, critical fire conditions are in place.
