Marin Organic 01.12.2020

Welcome to Sierra and Blake Miller of Paradise Valley Produce as our newest farmer members.

Marin Organic 25.11.2020

Dear Friends of Marin Organic, We’ll just come out and say it - we were missing Marin Organic. And from talking around we have a solid feeling that you were too. Which is why one day last December we walked out into the fields, pulled back the weeds, found some signs of life, cultivated it, gave it some water, and now we’re looking at Spring and a new episode for Marin Organic.... Going back to its roots, Marin Organic v2.0 will be an association of organic farmers, ranchers and producers in Marin County with a mission of fostering community and communication among each other, as well as promoting the ecological, social and economic importance of regenerative agriculture throughout Marin County and beyond. We are keeping it simple as we get going. We’ll have a website with resources such as a list of all organic producers in Marin, as well as an email listserv to serve as a forum for sharing ideas and information among producers. We’ll also provide marketing support in the form of digital content on the MO website and on social media channels like Twitter and Instagram. Because community will be a big focus of MO, we plan to get all the producers together from time to time and share some of the delicious food we all make. We promise a no-frills, good old time. Here’s a quick intro to the new Marin Organic v2.0 team: Jerry Draper was a charter member of Marin Organic and has been cultivating an organic urban farm in San Anselmo with his family for the past 24 years. Draper Farms operates a member CSA program at the farm. Jerry also has extensive computer skills (the day job). Since MO v2.0 is for, by, and about farmers we need to hear from you. Please give us some feedback about how you see this growing. We hope you don’t mind if we reach out to each of you in the coming days and weeks. You will see us at the upcoming screening of Evolution of Organic (May 4 at Tara Firma Farms) where we will have a table and will be talking about the revived Marin Organic. Stay tuned for more information on how to become a member. Cheers to Marin Organic’s past, present and future, Jerry

What an amazing show of appreciation for the work and history of Marin Organic. The Marin County Farm Bureau, the County of Marin, the State of California and our Congressional representative all offed their praise and recognition for the amazing impact MO has had on the county and the organic movement nation wide. We all have a lot to be proud of!

Dear Friends: We ask that you join us on November 7th, 12:30pm, at the Pt. Reyes Farmers Market for a final farewell to Marin Organic. It is a bittersweet time here at MO, for after a long and heartfelt examination of our history and the impact MO has had on the organic movement, the leadership of MO has come to the conclusion that Marin Organic has served its purpose, achieved its goals and completed its mission. We're proud of what we have accomplished, and hope you can join us at the Pt. Reyes Farmers Market for this final farewell toast to Marin Organic.

We capped the last weekend of Hops for Crops, and want to send a growler sized THANK YOU to Lagunitas Brewing Co for their generous support of our agricultural and educational programs. Pictured is MO executive director Jeffrey Westman along with Roxanne from Lagunitas at the San Rafael Market yesterday. We don't have the final numbers yet, but know that if you quenched your thirst this summer with just one of the many excellent beers on offer from Lagunitas at farmers' markets around Marin County, 100% of the profits from every last drop went in support of Marin Organic! Thank you Lagunitas!
