Whatever happened to the diamond eternity wedding band that Joe DiMaggio (Yankee Clipper and future hall of famer) gave to Marilyn Monroe, when they married January 14th,1954? The diamond eternity wedding band was set in platinum and held thirty-five baguette cut diamonds, (less one lost diamond) was auctioned by Christie when the diamond eternity wedding band sold for $772,500. The ring was set to appear at auction once again in December 2011. Although the auction was public...ized, there is no record of the results of the auction, and it looks like the buyer took the ring off the market. This might have been because the new estimate of $300,000 to $500,000 was well below the auction price from 1999. Rather than lose money, the anonymous collector chose to keep the ill-fated diamond eternity wedding band that Joe DiMaggio gave to Marilyn Monroe. It remains a mystery as to whatever happened to the one lost diamond from the baguette on the diamond eternity wedding band. Although the marriage only lasted for approximately nine months, the pair never remarried, but they remained good friends Marilyn’s death in 1962. Afterwards, DiMaggio sent roses to her grave several times a week for the next two decades.
