Whoever green-lighted a $2,000 yoga mat made with cowhide is in desperate need of a year-long vegetarian Buddhist community service retreat in an economically challenged part of the world.

First day back to teaching yoga is tomorrow! So honored to join the crew at Breathing Room (Leela) in Alameda. Will be bringing back my therapy ball/Iyengar combo class to remind our bodies how to move in this (hopefully) almost-post-corona era. Here is the link to sign up: https://www.leelayogaalameda.com/classes-1.html

Yoga off the matCoach Margaret demos chair pose for balance when skating downhill at this morning’s Oakland Tech Ice Hockey team dry land workout. I would not recommend this on the ice!

#Repost @cosmiccollage with @get_repost Holding a light of intention for all of the working mothers who now have their children home full time for school. Remember this is a gift to keep our babies close. We’ve got this. It’s going to be fucking hard and intense. There will be tears and frustration and we will learn what to hold onto and what to let go of. We do not have to carry it all.

Looks like I’m late to the party. But then again, I’ve always hated ‘antisocial’ media for its heroin effect, sucking us in then robbing us of our time and our will. #stophateforprofit #summeroflove #fuckfacebook #fuckinstagram #pardonmyfrench #yogaforall #yogastrong

This is why we tilt the pelvis back (aka tuck your lower spine under) and activate the glutes in tadasana! Stay tuned for more ways to counteract the problems caused by too much sitting.

Greetings, friends! We have updated and expanded the description of our upcoming workshop, "From Pose to Page." See the event listing, or read below: *** As individuals and communities, we are reeling and will be reeling for quite some time from the horrific and frightening events of 2020. What do we do with our feelings and our impulses to take action against injustice when our bodies and resources are limited by the state? ... We can move and we can write.* Yoga, as mindful movement, is not only an act of self-care, but an action of processing and expressing thoughts we may not even know we have. In the same way, writing for ourselves without any restriction on form or structure can be an action of processing our thoughts and even liberating ourselves. In this two-hour workshop we will move and we will write. Michelle Macarai will lead us in an exercise of "expressive writing," which as she says is a "focused way to deposit emotion on paper." Margaret Dubin will offer complementary yoga sequences to help us open, share, and finally restore a sense of calm. All you need to join us is an email address, a yoga mat, a pen or pencil, and a piece of paper! The class will be held on the Google Meet platform. Please email [email protected] to reserve your spot and get the link to join. *We are in no way suggesting that moving/writing is the only or the best way to process and react. We are offering this gift of self-care in the hopes of repairing and refueling our community for action for justice in real life.
