Start each and every day the right way, by stretching!

Some times simple changes can help you recover from or just decrease the level of pain in both acute and chronic back pain patients. For example check the following: For lower back pain. 1. Prolonged sitting and driving in most cases will aggravate you condition so avoid it.... 2. If you have just injured your back slipping, falling or by lifting something to heavy or in a awkward bent over position. Use ice applied to the back through a thin towel or paper towel. ( not directly on your skin) for about 10 to 15 minutes several times a day. Allow at least 30 to 45 minutes rest without ice between applications. 3. Do not sleep on a heating pad all night or for more than 20 minutes. 4. Wear a double pull back brace if needed but only if it makes you feel better. Some times a back injury will make a patient tilt forward, or to the left or right. Thus keeping pressure off the injured tissue. If the back brace forces you into a position that makes your pain increase stop using it. 5. Have a regular easy stretching and core strengthening program once symptoms improve or abate. 6. Be aware that back pain can start without out a clear causative injury. If it continues with our abatement please get it checked out by a health care professional. For Neck pain: 1. Watch the ergonomics at your work station. ( your neck should not be twisted in one direction all day. You should not be slouching forward for long periods of times. 2. Take breaks from the computer at list every 30 minutes. 3. Again use ice for severe pain or acute injury 4. Avoid sleeping on your stomach. 5. Perform regular stretches and strengthening exercises when symptoms improve or abate. See more
