Dear MNBJJ Family, We were really excited yesterday at the prospect of keeping the gym open in a limited capacity during this stressful time, but given the recent announcement that all San Mateo County residents must shelter in place and all gyms and recreation facilities are ordered closed it is apparent we will no longer be able to do that. We’re so disappointed but also understand its important to protect the health of the most vulnerable around us and are doing our part... to stop the spread of COVID-19. Marco and I were caught off-guard by the announcement today and needed to take a few hours to stock up on essentials (and quarantine snacks) so we’re running a little behind. Tomorrow, I’ll email a link for all current students to view our private YouTube channel. Daily, we’ll demo a technique (one for adults, one for kids) and a corresponding strength training workout you can do in your home. To those who are able keep your membership active: We’d like to extend the same options we listed yesterday. When we are able to reopen the gym (either on a regular group class schedule or the modified/appointment based schedule we set up yesterday), you each have either (4) privates with an MNBJJ brown or black belt OR (2) privates with Marco in the bank. You can save these for your next upcoming tournament, or use them as soon as the order is lifted. We’ll also change all memberships to unlimited (if you are currently 2 or 3 days/week). If your membership is already unlimited, you can pick up your free, MNBJJ gi when you return. Parents of children who train: this is the PERFECT time for you to figure out just what your kids have been doing the last few months or years. Adults who train: this is also the PERFECT time to get your spouse/child/roommate to train with you. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate every single email and message we’ve received in the last 24 hours. As small business owners, this is a really scary prospect, but the support we’ve received from our amazing BJJ family has helped keep this all in perspective.
