If you ever find yourself in Tucson, make sure you stop by and check out our friends at the 390th Memorial Museum Foundation. They have a beautiful B-17, wonderful staff, and a great collection of artifacts! While you are at it, give their page a like and follow!! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1162532157542970&id=301845693611625&anchor_composer=false

Todays March Field Air Museum / Moreno Valley Amateur Radio Association demonstration of an original WWII USAAF SCR-578 Gibson Girl Survival Radio Transmitter went well! Jordan managed to transmit a clear SOS but, so far, no one has arrived to rescue him.

Take a step into the past! This Saturday May 22, at 1100 AM the March Field Air Museum with its great team of Moreno Valley Amateur Radio Association volunteers will host a demonstration of an original WWII USAAF SCR-578 Gibson Girl Survival Radio Transmitter. The Gibson Girl radio set was a bright yellow, narrow waisted, hand crank powered emergency transmitter stored on military aircraft like the B-17 and B-24. Ruggedly designed, the radio was designed to be used by airc...rews to call for rescue while huddled in their life raft after being shot down. Come on down, it will be fascinating look at 1940’s technology in use!

The restoration crew brought our F-101 Voodoo down to their hangar this morning for a long overdue paintjob! When completed, 59-0418 will be displayed in the livery of the 60th Fighter Interceptor Squadron.

Neil, Carl, Tim, Art and, of course,, Greg Stathatos from B-29 Archeology had a great weekend helping to preserve the B-29A Superfortress Flagship 500 at the March Field Air Museum. The stabilizers and rudder are all painted. On their next trip they will be tackling the wings. Great job guys!!
