Hanukkah starts tonight! This holiday celebrates the victory of a small Jewish army that defeated the Syrians and restored the second temple in Jerusalem, approximately 2,200 years ago. Here are a couple of facts and things to consider during the eight-day holiday: - Hanukkah translates to "dedication" in Hebrew. - Also known as Chanukah or Holiday of Lights... - Why 8 nights? After the Syrians were defeated, there was only enough oil to light the menorah for one night.
