I’ve been holding off on this for a multitude of reasons. I don’t verbally communicate my emotions as eloquently as I capture the emotions of others. With a heavy and conflicted heart, it’s hard to know what to say or how to best form the right words. . I was apprehensive about any social media post at all. Not because I don’t value black lives and equal rights, but at the risk of becoming another viral post-sharing armchair activist. While it’s important to shed light on thi...s issue via social media, I believe the real action happens behind the scenes and in the content we choose to share. Please do not take anyone’s silence on any issue as complacency. . Soapbox This industry showcases white weddings and photos in a disproportionate measure... something that’s always frustrated me. If you’re active on these issues via social media, I challenge you to also take some sort of action outside of this app. Talk to your friends of color. Ask questions. Humble yourself. Go through your feed and DIVERSIFY your curated images the best you can. (This one has frustrated the hell out of me for years and it’s just one example of the subtle racism that’s rampant in our country). Every couple deserves to be celebrated: every race, size, and shape. .
