When one is injured, they need to keep their attorney aware of any address changes. Work comp check are usually not forwarded..they will be returned. If returned and there is a change of address with the post office, then the insurance company will resend the checks.. I thought a client was cut off from his disability paid by the insurance company, he had just moved and so the checks took a long time to go back to the sender.

When a person is injured, how they get treatment is important. Treatments like an MRI cost money and insurance companies often deny requests for an MRI. I had a client who the medical evaluator needed an MRI but Kaiser would not authorize it. Insurance company was willing to autorize it but Kaiser doctor refused to treat her or order the MRI. So, it is not always the insurance company who is the bad guy. I wrote letters tot his Kaiser doctor and no response. I was going to set her depo when the QME doctor found cient permanet and stationary without MRI and we settled case.

The practice of law is changing . Workers compensation law is changing as settlement conferences are now by conference call. Lawyers used to meet in person and write up settlment paperwork and clients would sign them. Now since things are by phone, paperwork must be received ahead of time and submitted after the appearance. Judges say the conference calls work well so they may not open in up for in person settlement conferences anymore. Family law there are inperson trials but not settlement conferences. Work comp has not in person trials. There were some expetited hearings in person but I do not belivee now.
