Sleep deprivation is NOT a badge of honor. Our culture has made sleepless nights a thing to celebrate or brag about like we’ve conquered something amazing by pushing through pure exhaustion. We have hashtags like #teamnosleep or #tiredasamother with thousands of hits from tired moms and dads everywhere. We recite sayings like, sleep is for the weak and, I’ll sleep when I’m dead as though it’s something to be proud of to suffer through sleepless nights. . We have to change... this way of thinking, friends! . Sleep deprivation is very real. It affects our ability to be the best mom/dad to our babies, it affects our marriages-our jobs-our ability to focus, and it increases our chances for postpartum depression among other postpartum mood disorders. . It’s time we shift gears and take our sleep back! Let’s make sleep the CL thing to do. Let’s brag about healthy sleep habits and well rested bodies & minds. Then, let’s celebrate all the wonderful things it does for our families when we do get the rest we so desperately need to thrive . I know what it feels like to be stuck in a rut of sleepless nights long beyond the newborn phase and to feel as though you’re barely surviving motherhood. I also know how incredible it feels to claim sleep back for yourself and your entire family, and come out well rested on the other side. . Life on the other side is BEAUTIFUL. . If you need help restoring sleep in your home please reach out to me. I would love to help . #sleepdeprived #sleepy #needcoffee #momlife #dadlife #postpartumsupport #support #sleepcoach #tired #mamazen See more

Let’s talk about NAPS . If your baby is taking more than one nap per day, it is recommended to not let her sleep longer than 2 hours for any given nap. Beyond that, you’ll want to pay attention to her total daytime sleep. If your baby is sleeping MORE than the recommended total for their age, consider capping naps to allow for more consolidated night time sleep . Here are the recommendations for total daytime napping hours based on age:... 4-6 months: 3-5 hours 6-9 months: 3-4 hours 9-18 months: 2.5-3 hours 18-36+ months: 2-3 hours **keeping in mind some babies may handle slightly more or less sleep... and if they’re sick all sleep rules go out the window. When our kiddos aren’t feeling well we want them to get as much sleep as possible whenever they can. . This may have some of you thinking, W A I T! Do I really want you to wake a sleeping baby? The answer is, Y E S! Allowing for too much daytime sleep can begin to cause difficulties with naps, bedtime, or middle of the night sleep. . Naps are certainly the most difficult piece in the healthy sleep habits puzzle, but since daytime sleep affects nighttime sleep and vice versa, it’s important to make sure our babies are getting what they need in all areas of sleep . If your kiddo is struggling with sleep, feel free to reach out! I would love to help #sleep #sleepy #nap #naptime #teamnosleep #sleeping #baby #child #momlife #dadlife #parenting See more
