Dear Mallory Academy Parents and students, In honor of the holiday Juneteenth, we will be closed for zoom classes today Friday June 19th. This holiday is very important to the Mallory family and as we love to treat everyone like family, we’d like to encourage you all to educate your families on this American holiday. Last year we didn’t add this holiday to the calendar simply because we didn’t think anyone knew about it or we realized people didn’t celebrate it because it did...n’t affect them. I’ve come to the conclusion that by not giving this holiday the recognition it deserves; I’m doing a disservice to all of the African American students and staff. I remember growing up and wondering why no one celebrated this holiday the way we celebrate Memorial Day or the 4th of July ect..., and it made me feel like my history was less important. I don’t want anyone that is involved with this studio to ever feel the way I once felt and if there are any cultural or forgotten American holidays that you and your family celebrate, I’d love to learn about them so we can always celebrate with you. Below are some links to some educational videos you can watch, along with books you can read to your young ones. Before you share with your little ones, please watch and read through to make sure the content fits what they can understand. If it doesn’t fit, you can just educate or tell them in your own way. To all of our families and followers, we are doing everything in our power to keep our studio a safe and clean environment.
