What a great way to start the day guest speaking at @drcristinarose gender studies class. I briefly talked about body autonomy, pleasure anatomy, reproductive justice, choice health care, choices in childbirth and dismantling gender binary. It’s was fun to be in the 310 with mostly poc class with varying experiences talking about their body. It reminded me how much deeper we can collectively dive into conversation of each of these topics. When did you first learn about your body? What did you take away from sex ed? Who taught your sex ed class? How does power and privilege play a role in what you were taught? Thank you @wms_csudh for having me. #malayabirthmovement #pilipinxmidwife #sexeducation #smashthegenderbinary #reproductivejustice

This post is about #infantloss and the selflessness of a family. On this day 2 years ago a dear community member was in labor and her son would be born entering the world. This was a different story. His nanay (mother) gestated him to term, Tatay (father) was awaiting him lovingly, his kuyas ( big brothers) were ready to receive him. There was a 50/50 chance he would be able to stay. On that day, I witnessed the courage and unconditional love of a family. Malachi...te Eclipse was born into this world his time was brief. I remember the presence in his eyes, his strong spirit and knowing that he would be limitless as a spirit guide. His family was able to offer him tenderness, hold him, and release him into the realm of ancestors. He has been a profound teacher to all of us. I want honor him and this family for allowing me to support them. As important as it is to be able to have informed care to make medical decisions, to be treated with dignity and kindness in birth it is equally a valued in loss. Thank you Malachite Eclipse for continuing to support your family. It might be the assumption that being a midwife is about loving birth. I do love birth. As a midwife I support families through the cycle of life, in birth and transition. Sometimes it seems like society has been taught to fear birth as much as they fear death. Maybe we can all find ways to show up for community and be present in the most challenging moments. That is where the healing and lessons live. #malachiteeclipse #saytheirnames #honoringloss #bituin #honoringfamilies #ancestralguidance #pregnancyandinfantlosssupport #bereavedparents #nanaygrief #dadsgrievetoo #lifeafterloss #unconditionallove #healing See more

Welcome little one. This ones parent said , I was encouraged today by realizing your wholistic and genuine care, not just for mom/ birthing parent, but for our family What an affirming compliment from dad. It takes a village to raise a child and each member deserves support as they navigate the changes. I’m honored to offer care, resources, and education.

Happy International LBTwomens Day! Being a midwife i get to see the power of families who want to be educated, who want to be part of their care, and most importantly want to experience the possibilities of their strength. I aim to celebrate women and all birthing people because not all birthing individuals identify as women. Midwifey @larosamidwifery celebrated by welcoming a new baby this morning. Successful home birth after cesarean #hbac! Choosing a Certified professional midwife for care through pregnancy and the birth has resulted in 87% success rate in Vaginal Birth after 1 cesarean. There is a time in labor when the intensity seems impossible to overcome. This family is strong father nourished with food and fresh juices, mama navigated doubt, exhaustion and her strength, and big brother was our birth photographer. Place of birth is never guaranteed, I am proud to offer comprehensive care for healthy low-risk families which in this moment resulted in Victory! Yes that’s my smile seconds after birth. Can it get any bigger? Congratulations to this family! #pilipinxmidwife #scrubsandtsinelas #vbac #hbac #manastats

This Monday I’ll be part of #DebunkingtheTurkeyBaster . We will be having a conversation about family planning and conception options. I will be talking about IUI in Home option and more. This will not be a time for individual counseling. It is a time to celebrate LGBTQ families and individuals/partnerships who are preparing to raise a little one in their loving home and want to know where to start. Queer and Trans individuals are not infertile when sperm is not readily ava...ilable. As a provider I strive to honor the sacred intimacy of conception for all individuals/families. Anyways if we need more technology there is plenty out there. I can’t explain how excited I am to be doing this with @sassyharksun who co-envisioned this workshop and made it all possible @genderjusticela thank you for offering the space and your facilitation skills. Bonus**** @satrangsocal will be offering legal information for families interested in adoption and surrogacy. Check it out & please help us spread the word! #trans #gnc #twospirit #queer #reproductivejustice #GJLA #malayamidwifery. Special thanks to Sarah for making this collaboration/workshop possible! #trans #gnc #twospirit #queer #reproductivejustice #GJLA #malayamidwifery #qtpocmidwife See more
