Born in a small town in Illinois, Philip R. Perkins became a painter widely acknowledged for his post-war style painting. He used flattened planes and black outlines to form landscapes and figures very much in the style of Paris artist Bernard Buffet. Perkins studied at the Chicago Art Institute from 1926 to 1931. In 1932 he moved to Paris, France and studied with Jean Marchaud and Louis Marcoussis until 1934. He continued his studies from 1934 to 1937 with Fernard Leger.... In 1934 he exhibited his work at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuilleries in Paris, France. Philip R. Perkins left Paris in 1940 and moved to New York City where he shared a studio with Surrealist artist Yves Tanguy until 1945. He had solo Exhibitions at the Marquie Gallery, New York in 1944, 1946 and 1947. In the later part of 1947 Perkins moved back to Paris, France and participated in the International Surrealist Exhibition, at the Galerie Maeght. In 1951 Philip R. Perkins moved back to New York City and held an exhibition at the Samuel Kootz Gallery. He was then represented in Chicago and Florida after that exhibition by the well-known Oehlschlaeger Galleries from the early 1950,s thru 1960's. . .Signed, dated 1957. 10 x 8 oil on masonite. Just acquired from a well known North Coast San Diego County collector we offer this Joan Miro original lithograph entitled *Revolution, circa 1980, and it is believed to be the first of a series of distinctly different images by Miro (all with the same title) the subsequent images being significantly larger editions, and as well as several unauthorized, re-issued printings, unsigned. FYI, there has never been an authorized signed and limited edition re-issue of this specific... image. Pencil signed by the artist, very limited Hors Commerce (not for sale) Edition, personally gifted by Miro himself (the published Maeght Editeur numbered edition printed by Mourlot Freres, Paris, was limited to 75). The original Orange County gallery COA is attached to the back of the mount. 12.5 by 14.75 (sheet). Condition: Good pre-owned condition with some color fade evident from daylight and age. Paper shows toning. Top edge of sheet (verso) is tape mounted to the mat. The most recent legitimate auction sale record for this scarce image was 2017 at DuMouchelles, Detroit brought $2850 (inc. buyers premium). Available w/ condition appropriate pricing. Free shipping in the U.S. DM for more info. . . . #joanmiro #modernart #fineart #fineprints #estateart #surrealism #fauvism #expressionism #dada #abstractart #cubist #artlovers #artcollectors #artdealer #collectingart #abstractexpressionism #artforsale #originallithograph #horscommerce #limitededition #galeriemaeght #mourloteditions #ateliermourlot #modernism #spanishart #miro #picasso

Beautiful vintage Balinese acrylic on canvas painting by one of the founding members of the Young Artists movement, I Ketut Soki (b.1946); titled Rice Harvest. A relatively early example, circa 1975-1980. Measures 28 x 34 (actual). Framed, as found. Adapted bio from a website dedicated to the artist: Known locally simply as Pak Soki, which means Mr. Soki in Indonesian, he was born on the beautiful tropical island of Bali in 1946. His small village is known as 'The Vill...age of Young Artists" because of the number of artists that have been trained there by several very famous and world renown artists in the 1930's and 40's such as such as Arie Smit, Hendra Gunawan, Affandu, Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur , and Antonio Blanco. Ketut Soki was one of those young boys 'drawing in the sand' discovered by the renown Dutch modernist painter Arie Smit, when he was just 12 years young. With tutelage under Smit, he began drawing sketches and then adding color. Still today, he spends a week or so, just doing the pencil drawing before adding the oil colors. The last stage of adding the incredible oil colors can take up to a month and a half to finish for a large canvas. His incredibly detailed paintings include details of everyday life on this beautiful island. From the cycle of rice planting thru harvesting; the many Balinese ceremonies like birth, tooth filing, to cremation ceremonies, all are included in his paintings. The colors include lush greens, blues and golds. The sky is shown sometimes at sun rise, sometimes in a rich blue. Soki has been painting now for over 50 years and the maturity of his work reflects that. His early styles and color choices have grown into a varied palate of golds, blues, and greens. His work sits in many museums world wide and is in many important collections. it pays to be honest AND patient. i spotted these in the wild at a yard sale 17 years ago in the SDSU area of San Diego (pre covid 19, LOL). i saw them through the back door of the garage. the owner said nothing back there was for sale. however, i told him about Walter Lamb and Brown Jordan...and told him to call if he ever decided to sell them. well, it made an impression him...he kept my number and called me last week out of the blue and asked if i remembered him/them? i t...old him i occasionally thought about the pieces over the years but did not have his name or phone #....couldn't even remember what part of SoCal they were....so we negotiated a price and pleased to say I picked them up today. They both should be re-corded, and the lounge needs some re-brazing to a couple of weak spots in the joints....but i’m happy to add these quality pieces to our inventory See more
