By popular demand, we are introducing a new type of class specific to Home Defense. Learn to defend yourself and your family from an active intruder. In this class, you will learn how to implement any defensive tools that you have available, whether a pistol, rifle, shotgun, or any less than lethal weapons. ----- CONSEQUENCES ----- It is often difficult to convey certain messages in training - especially to those with little prior knowledge or research. One of the essential skills that students often struggle with is the efficient use of cover - "slicing the pie". Some students had a hard time really internalizing how essential the correct body positron and footwork is, because with love fire, their concern was hitting the targets but nothing "happened" if they didn't position ...correctly. There were no consequences. A new teaching method we use, once they've learned the concept, is limited Force on Force. This allows the student to have a moving target that can change positions throughout the engagement, as well as between each set (which is difficult with conventional target systems). This experience has allowed them to quickly learn the footwork and body positions - and benefits of certain technique - because there is feedback beyond just an instructor's word. What a week! We love what we do but often forget to post about the important, behind the scenes aspects of it. This week, we met with LAPD command staff and coordinators in several divisions, preparing for the approaching High Holidays and working to establish the most efficient patrol routes/times. We've also been working together with other security organizations and assisting in a couple reports, including the incident that has since gone viral regarding the antisemitic d...isplay above the 405. We value our partnerships with local Law Enforcement and city officials, and know these are critical components in securing the community from within! Thankful that the #HolserFire did not damage any of the structure or equipment at our host facility - @californiatacticalacademy The fire literally burned all around the main office, but did not reach it.
