Passive House Plus final certificate for our Los Angeles Ave. project. It is a deep green net zero house! This time we worked with the German Passive House Institute for requirements and approval https://passivehouse.com/ We were thrilled to work with our very forward thinking clients on this project!

We finally got our final Passive House Completion Certificate (PHIUS+) for our Sacramento St/Berkeley Way cork house! This is through Passive House Institute US. This goes along with Energy Star Certified New Home approval! Both certificates require a very high level of planning, detailing, and rigorous implementation to achieve, along with stringent outside verification to assure compliance with all program requirements. The house is highly insulated and air-sealed, basi...cally requires no heating, is very comfortable, uses very little energy, and is NetZero ready. It has a 24/7 balanced fresh air ventilation system which provides superb indoor air quality. The cork siding provides a continuous insulation layer at R-4 per inch, is carbon negative, and helps preserve cork forests in perpetuity. Very proud of everyone on our design and construction teams who contributed to the success of this project! Initial design and planning approval by Leger Wanaselja Architects. Support me! Hey Everybody! Thanks so much to those who have sent donations for the Climate Ride! So far, I have raised almost $1000 and am at 30% of raising my goal of $3200. There is still a long way to go so please make a tax-deductible donation today by clicking on http://bike.climateride.org/index.cfm and going to my fundraising page. Any amount helps! Click on this link for more about the Climate Ride: www.climateride.org/rides/california... I have started training seriously on my bike for the 320+ miles from Eureka to San Francisco over 5 days from May 19 -23. On day 3, I am planning on riding 100 miles! It will be a physical challenge but I am confident it will go well. To get ready, I will be going on training rides 3-4 times a week, plus riding my bike to work and other activities as much as possible. I am raising funds for 4 non-profit organizations who each work in their own way to address the issues surrounding climate change: California Straw Building Assn, East Bay Bicycle Coalition, Green Belt Alliance, and 350.org. I chose these 4 because they represent 4 levels for finding solutions: site specific, local, regional, and national/international. To learn more about each organization, click on the following links: www.strawbuilding.org/ www.ebbc.org/ www.greenbelt.org/ http://350.org/ Please help me to support these great organizations! Thank you! Ian http://bike.climateride.org/index.cfm
