George Rivera, Limones de la Vida Oil on Canvas... 9 x 12 in 2020 Retail Price: $400 Starting Bid: $300 The Lemon series of oil paintings on panel and on canvas are a reflexion on duality in life; the lemons are full of color and life yet the leaves are decaying and eaten by insects, only lasting briefly. There are no promises but the warm light in the paintings represent hope. As an artist, Rivera has been included in over 150 exhibitions locally, nationally and internationally. Since 1974 his drawings, mixed media and paintings have been presented at art centers, galleries and museums. His work have been represented by art galleries including the Group 21 Gallery, Los Gatos; Freeman Gallery, Palo Alto; Branner-Spangenberg Gallery, Palo Alto; Sperling Gallery, San Jose; the Pope Gallery, Santa Cruz; Ebert Gallery, San Francisco; Michael Himovitz Gallery, Sacramento; d.p. His artwork is heavily influenced by the Latin American struggle, Mexican folk art and pre-Hispanic art. He fuses this cultural imagery along with modern motifs in order to create works that revisit the Latin American experience through modern eyes and current social context. Sanchez works in a number of mediums including: painting, printmaking, drawing and ceramics.
