Come visit our loyal companion! Fun fact: The L-19 received the name Bird Dog as a result of a contest held with Cessna employees to name the aircraft. The name was chosen because the role of the army’s new aircraft was to find the enemy and orbit overhead until artillery (or attack aircraft) could be brought to bear. Lyon Air Museum has expanded its retail space into the hangar to provide a socially distanced shopping experience. Gift shop items are on display throughout the hangar where shoppers can shop among historic aircraft. A daily shopping pass is available for purchase to visit our expanded store. Shoppers can expect to find gifts for everyone on their list all while enjoying the spectacular aviation backdrop! Retail hours are daily from 10AM 4PM.

She may look different, but that’s Fuddy Duddy during her time as a movie star. Our B-17 was used as a VIP transport on the Pacific at the end of WWII. It once carried U.S. Army Generals Douglas A. MacArthur and Dwight D. Eisenhower. During its time, Hump Operations carried more tons of cargo over a given route than any other aviation operation since the Wright brothers’ flight at Kitty Hawk.
