No April Fools joke here! Dr. Granzow spent an informative hour as a webinar panelist for medical advisors on Tuesday morning. From there, he saw a full slate of patients in clinic. Yesterday and today, he was back in the operating room. On Tuesday, we gave a brief acknowledgment that it was National Doctor's Day. Today we just wanted to pause and recognize Dr. Granzow for his tireless work as a doctor, surgeon and educator. ... Earlier today, Dr Granzow was a panelist along with several other physicians and therapists discussing pre and post surgical care for lymphedema and lipedema patients hosted by the good people at Compression Guru. Today’s informative program was limited to medical providers, but we look forward to sharing the best snippets from the webinar with you, our faithful followers, in the future. This was the last of several lectures Dr. Granzow participated in this month, as Lymphed...ema Awareness Month comes to a close for another year. But our work is never done. Swish-Swish! We just received the absolute bonus of seeing one of our patients (SAPL surgery 18 months ago) on a recent ski trip to Red River, NM. And now, with her approval, we share a view of our proud ski bunny with you! "Skiing used to be something that I just straight up avoided. I couldn’t get boots to fit, and if I made some work, I would be in pain the whole time and dreaded the next day of being so sore. I’m no professional skier but now I get to actually enjoy it ...and have fun. My boots fit, my leg and foot don’t bother me at all through the day, and I’m only sore because, well let’s face it, I should definitely get some more exercise in. We had so much fun this trip! During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Granzow filmed a short video reminder about the value of early detection. According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early and is in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. As Dr. Granzow notes in his video, early detection includes monthly breast self-exams and scheduling regular clinical breast exams and mammograms.
