Worried that your interests aren’t being represented in local government? We are getting the people involved in redistricting which has increased action on community concerns like clean water. When our voices are heard, our needs are met. Getting involved in redistricting is key in ensuring that your government listens to the messages you care about, such as a cleaner and healthier environment. ... Today we joined Campaign Legal Center, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), and Common Cause and submitted an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in Americans for Prosperity Foundation v. Becerra. The case challenges a California law requiring nonprofit organizations to disclose their large donors. In its challenge to donation transparency requirements, the case could have implications for #campaignfinancelaws. The League joined this case to stand... against the spreading influence of dark money in politics, said Stephanie Doute, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of California. Financial disclosure rules are essential to ensure accountability for political influence, and this case has dangerous implications for campaign finance. The wealthiest political donors should not be able to influence our politics in secret. This case is just another example of wealthy special interests trying to chip away at transparency in politics. https://www.lwv.org//lwv-california-and-partners-urge-supr #darkmoney #CampaignFinanceReform #California

Today we are celebrating the first Black Congresswoman, the first Black candidate for a major party's presidential nomination, and former @LWVNYC member, Shirle...y Chisholm.
