" US immigration officers allegedly tortured Cameroonian asylum seekers to force them to sign their own deportation orders, in what lawyers and activists describe as a brutal scramble to fly African migrants out of the country in the run-up to the elections."

"[Cesar Marroquin] suffered political persecution and physical violence after he supported a local politician and turned down a request to work with a rival one. After that, he said he was threatened and his home was damaged and raided; he also suspects someone tampered with his car. Migrants are being deported by the hundreds on a weekly basis to the small town of Sásabe, Sonora just a west of Nogales. These are not just Mexican nationals, ...but migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador as well, left in this town with no familiarity of where they are and a lack of infrastucture and resources for discerning next steps. A Tucson-based organizer, Dora Rodriguez says: We believe that Border Patrol is getting away with these horrible deportation numbers because no one knows. It is really easy for them to just dump people there and that’s it. Nobody says anything. This is not an isolated issue, rather is part of a larger web of inhumanity, such as Border Patrol raiding humanitarian aid stations, arresting and teargassing peaceful, indigenous protesters and all happening during and following one of the hottest summers on record during which more migrant remains have been found in the desert than any other year since 2013.
