We connected with Blandine Devlin, Senior Director and Global Head of Marketing & Strategy, for the last Friday of Women’s History Month! Blandine shared that the best advice she ever received was in relation to building her team at Lumileds: It was an advice in the way of a question: ‘Do you have the right team?’. As a manager, surrounding yourself with the right people is a key success factor. The ‘right’ people will be the ones who have expertise that you don’t have, wh...o are complementary, who think differently and bring a fresh perspective. She also shared insight into her career role model: Christine Lagarde, previous head of the IMF, and not only because she is French like me. She has worked her whole career in male-dominated roles, where, as a woman, she had to learn to ‘pick her fights and really persist ; greet her teeth and smile’, and in some occasions, be selective in her career choices, when she felt the people who were offering her the job ‘did not deserve her’. Finally, Blandine praised the resilience of her coworkers when asked about her work at Lumileds: I’m very proud of my team. On very challenging projects, they have demonstrated their ability to ‘make the impossible, possible’, by breaking boundaries, by thinking outside of the box, and most of all, by showing an impressive level of resilience.
