Elijah Bishop, our very own store Ambassador and owner of Elite Fitness and Strength, took a moment with us to reflect and share his experiences for this year’s Black History Month.

From murals to mixed media, Coachella Valley artist activist Peter Mikulak uses his voice to speak up for the Coachella Valley’s homeless. Once homeless himself, Mikulak began repurposing materials into art and in the effort to help provide his neighbors with food on Thanksgiving, Mikulak sold over 700 portraits of Marilyn Monroe in downtown Palm Springs which lead him to become a local celebrity. Today, Mikulak’s work ranges from multi-media custom portraits, live street-art performances, and one-of-a-kind clothing designs.

This week we’re celebrating Black History Month by highlighting Black Excellence in our own Coachella Valley’s history. Palm Springs pioneer, Lawrence Crossley, made a huge impact on the valley's land development, despite various racial hurdles that he faced living in the 1920’s.

Next Saturday, February 6th, over 80 of Coachella Valley’s local businesses are coming together for a socially-distanced, open air market right here in Palm Desert. Our good friends at Cactus & Clay will be there, hoping to sell you your new favorite earrings handmade with love and polymer clay.

Meet Your Educator Monday! Julie loves to stay active by hiking! She is currently working on going on at least 20 different trails throughout this year. Julie Is wearing the Align Tank In Black and our Wunder Train leggings in Tear It Up Alpine White Black.

Casey started his journey in the coffee industry doing pop up events at local farmers markets, as well as espresso bars for private events. During the pandemic, he took on the craft of roasting specialty coffee which further sparked his passion for his work. Our Educator Tracey stays sane during these unprecedented times through her yoga practice and by listening to her favorite motivational podcasts. She has big goals of being a designer for lululemon, and in the mean time she intends on serving those in need, being more in-tune with her designs, and focusing on her social responsibility. Tracey is wearing the Oh So Sherpa Full Zip in Dark Red, which happens to be the perfect piece for the cool desert nights and mornings that are finally beginning to reappear.

Our Educator Josh has been consistent with his home and outdoor workouts throughout all of the gym closures. What drives him to stay motivated? "The fear of not reaching my potential physically, mentally, and spiritually." How have you stayed motivated at home?
