According to ATTOM Data Solutions, 1.99 million home loans were rolled over into new mortgages in Q3 2021, down 13 percent from Q2 2021 and 3 percent from Q3 2020.

The national median down payment hit its highest level since at least 2005, and was up 41% from $19,502 in the 3rd quarter of 2020, according to ATTOM Data Solutions.

Over the past 40 years, the number of sole-person households has almost doubled, and that trend is expected to continue. The growth of sole-person households creates even more demand for smaller, more affordable homes.

2021 is the 40th anniversary of NAR’s Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, with their first report publishing in 1981. This is a unique year in that it covers an entire year of research in which buyers and sellers purchased or sold a home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
