These are very, very clear signs of discomfort to a good dog trainer. These are very, very subtle signs to the average dog owner, and this is why so many owners... are surprised when their dogs bite. If your dog is uncomfortable and quiet, it is far more concerning than if your dog is uncomfortable and loud. This is one of the reasons why correction-based training can be so unsettling. It doesn’t take the dog’s emotional state into account, so the dog doesn’t feel any better about the situation - they just lose their ability to communicate their need for space and become silently uncomfortable, leading to closer triggers, higher stress, and eventually, faster bites.
