Hi, this is Jen, the owner of Lost Coast Lashes, I want to share some informative info regarding a HOT TOPIC with all of you. There is some inaccurate reporting around the country right now regarding eyelash extensions. Let's talk about the difference between eyelash MITES vs. LICE... Do not mistake the two... We ALL have lash MITES (extreme version in PIC #1.). We've had them our entire lives and the only reason we're seeing them more frequently is due to improper cleansing and at home care of eyelash extensions. If you're not properly cleansing your lashes, there is a ton of dead skin build up, debri and oil. Those lash MITES are going to thrive in that environment and breed more and more, so dont skip your lash cleansing!! There are 3 types of LICE (PIC #2) Head LICE This is the most common Body LICE Public LICE aka crabs. You can contract LICE in your eyelashes if you came in contact with an affected area or touched an affected area and then touched your eyelashes. It is possible for you to contract LICE from a lash studio that has been compromised. It is important that your stylist cleanses eyes, either pre or pre and post application. Properly sterilizes their tools or muscles disposable implements and changes their pillows or head towels after every client. Specifically formulated LASH CLEANSER should rid the eyes of infestation but the proper protocol for a lash stylist if he or she were to see LICE (and they are visible) is to refer clients to an eye doctor for cleansing and removal. I, in my 10 years of lashing, have never seen lash LICE before and I hope I never do.
