Hello Gardeners The LMCHD Community Garden Academy will be offering a series of monthly garden classes for the spring season! UC Master Gardener, Shawna Andersen, will be joining us to talk about a variety of exciting garden topics. From soil health to beneficial bugs , she talks about different strategies you can use to grow a lush healthy organic garden.... We will be kicking off the growing season, talking about the different techniques you can use to have healthy soil. You don’t need to be an expert to join the class, because in the garden you can always learn! Welcome families! The Los Medanos community garden is located at 2311 Loveridge Road, Pittsburg, CA 94565. Th garden is full of learning opportunities, which will actively engage your child to learn more about the environment, nutrition education and their food source! We have an opportunity for children who are residents of the district( Pittsburg, Bay Point, Antioch) to volunteer daily Monday- Friday from 10:00am- 11:00am starting on October 26, 2020, in which they can come... to the children’s garden. The sprouts will engage in different activities, including soil testing and seed starting, acquire books to take home, & play a vital role in planting, watering and harvesting! These lessons are designed for children aged 5- 12. To ensure for safety during COVID-19: 1. Social distancing measures have been set in place limiting the class to 12 people maximum. 2.
