The Home’s #Passover Seders were ones to remember. Residents were treated to their own individual Seder plate, and tuned into virtual services led by Skirball Director of Spiritual Life Rabbi Karen Bender and Eisenberg Village Campus Rabbi Ron Goldberg. In addition, residents received a rose with their meal to commemorate a beautiful holiday dinner.

Scenes from last week’s pre-#Passover kashering (cleaning) of the Jewish Home kitchens. Skirball Director of Spiritual Life Rabbi Karen Bender and Eisenberg Village Campus Rabbi Ron Goldberg inspired the Home’s hardworking dietary department staff as they cleaned. In addition, the rabbis did the traditional burning of the hametz (leavened bread).

Every year on #RoshHashanah, Jews around the globe recite these ancient words: Hayom harat olam Today is the day of the world's creation. It is a prayer for positivity and hope that is particularly poignant during these trying times. As we grapple with a deadly pandemic that continues to wreak havoc on our daily lives, says Rabbi Karen Bender, Skirball director of spiritual life at the Jewish Home, this is precisely the message we need. Read our recap on this year's High Holy Day festivities at the Jewish Home. http://bit.ly/LAJHSweetNewYear

The Los Angeles Jewish Home’s Brandman Centers for Senior Care (BCSC) hosted a day for participants to safely receive their flu shots. BCSC provided transportation for each participant from their home to the Center and back. Once vaccinated, participants were given a bag filled with activities to keep them engaged at home. Our CEO-President Dale Surowitz also stopped by to give our participants a warm welcome. Even under the masks, everyone could tell there were smiles all around!

Incorporating pumpkins, squash and leaves, the Fountainview activities team brought smiles to their residents as they celebrated the festive holiday. At 12:30 p.m. (PST) today, the Los Angeles Jewish Home is participating in the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living’s National Moment of Silence, honoring those who have lost their lives from COVID-19 while working or living in long term care facilities.
