On behalf of the hardworking students, dedicated faculty, and reliable staff of the Los Angeles Community College District, Los Angeles City College is releasing this statement: In a collaborative effort with the rest of the student boards within LACCD, we extend our hand in support of our Armenian students, faculty, and staff populations amid the escalating series of events in the region of Artsakh. Over the past few days, Armenians and non-Armenian allies have stood hand-i...n-hand in accord, crying chants of recognition from the media, governments, and the extended Los Angeles community by and large; for the conflict that has taken the lives of hundreds. As sworn-in representatives of our student body in LACCD, we will not sit idly by, but instead will exercise our voices in solidarity to be mindful of the hardships struck to the Armenian population. Thus, we are hosting an "Armenian Town Hall" in aid of this endeavor on Friday, October 23rd at 2:00 P.M. during which the participating colleges willprovide resources from their campuses in assistance for the stress that has affected our Armenian students during this time of uncertainty. Guest speakers have been invited from within LACCD as well as outside who will shed light on the aforementioned complications as well as the collectiveanecdotal experience of the Armenian community. A spoken summary of the ongoing political situation and its social ramifications for the Armenian diaspora will be provided by the organization Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) for context. Please join us in solidarity with the Armenian community of LACCD. We hope to see you there. #peaceforarmenians
