Whoo hoo! The new Pantone color of 2021 has been announced! This year, they gave us 2 colors!!! Yes, two! The first is 17-5104 Ultimate Gray, which looks a lot like many grays in homes these days (including mine). The more adventurous choice is + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating -- it's yellow! This bold choice is explained as, "two independent colors that highlight how different elements come together to support one another, best express the mood for Pantone Color of the Year... 2021" Zillow may have something to say about that. They've been warning sellers that the value of their home could drop if they paint it yellow. But what if you paint the kitchen yellow? Back in the 1990s there was a design show (I can't remember the name or the name of the host) where the designer said if you paint your dining room or kitchen yellow, you will sell your home in a week. Those were confident words. Could they be true again? https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year-2021 See more

One of the first things I saw this morning was this headline: "Mortgage rates hit new record low but applications wane Rates hit 3.05% for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, the lowest number ever recorded by the weekly Mortgage Bankers Association survey Mortgage rates hit new record low but applications wane"... **If you want to refinance now, you may run into some hurdles to get the lowest rates. But if you're looking to buy a house, the lowest rates are more likely to be available. ** Here's the full text of the article. I'll post the link at the bottom, for those of you can see it. Photo by Bernadette Gatsby on Unsplash BY PATRICK KEARNS | Staff Writer Today 6:41 A.M. Mortgage rates hit a new record low of 3.05 percent for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, according to data released Wednesday by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). It’s the lowest rate ever recorded by MBA’s weekly survey, which looks at conforming mortgages valued at $510,400 or less. Despite the drop in rates, MBA’s market composite index a measure of mortgage loan application volume was down 4.8 percent from the week prior. The drop was led by the refinance index falling 7 percent week-over-week, although the measure was still up 52 percent from the same week last year. Mortgage rates decreased last week, with the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage declining 5 basis points to 3.05 percent the lowest in MBA’s survey, Joel Kan, MBA’s associate vice president of economic and industry forecasting, said in a statement. There are indications that refinance rates are not decreasing to the same extent as rates for home purchase loans, and that could explain last week’s decline in refinances, Kan added. Many lenders are still operating at full capacity and working through operational challenges, ultimately limiting the number of applications they are able to accept. https://www.inman.com//mortgage-rates-hit-new-record-low/

Here's a snapshot of the last 24 hours for Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties. Active means houses that have come onto the market in that time. Pending means sellers who have accepted an offer from a buyer. This category includes Pending, Bring Backup. And Closed means the number of houses sold. This shows there are more buyers than sellers. Homes that are priced right are selling in record time with multiple offers. If you have questions about this market, give me a call or text. (916) 521-5213 [DRE: 01985435]

I was looking up information for my Valentine's Day newsletter and I ran into this information. I was a little put off that it didn't cover people who have birds, gerbils, rabbits, lizards or cats, but it's wonderful info for people who have dogs. Or maybe this could be the excuse to adopt a dog for you or your family. Happy Valentine's Day! https://www.heart.org//healthy-b/do-dog-owners-live-longer
