Why only use disposable masks and stop wearing cloth masks? For those who are wearing cloth masks ordered online or even fashioned from old garments, it’s more likely that skin problems are occurring as a result of a different type of reaction. This could be from sensitivity to fabrics, the dye in fabrics, laundry detergent, and softeners which can lead to a dry irritation or contact or irritant dermatitis. If you suspect you might be experiencing this dilemma, look f...or irritant and fragrance-free detergents to help prevent a reaction. Not only is a safer to just use a disposable mask and throw it away at the end of each use it is cleaner. With cloth masks, you have to remember to wash them every day and it can sometimes get excessive. Plus if you are not washing your mask daily you are just putting bacteria that accumulate on your mask from your everyday use back onto your face causing breakouts. BUT for those who love the cute cloth masks and want to save the environment as long as you are washing your mask daily, are not experiencing any reaction from your detergent, and you feel your mask fits you properly, then do you boo boo! Why wash your face after wearing your mask all day? In addition to either washing or throwing your disposable masks, make sure to be diligent about washing your face before putting the mask on for the day, and again once you are home and can safely remove it. If you’re acne-prone, I recommend using a cleanser with salicylic acid, which is gentle enough not to cause further irritation, but efficient in helping unclog pores. I would advise against scrubbing you can use a chemical exfoliant (again, look for salicylic acid) to help keep pores clear. Want to treat yourself? A gentle massage using a cold jade roller can be soothing and help with swelling around the mask borders. Why flip your mask upside down? All masks whether they are cotton, surgical paper, or N95 create a seal over the face, allowing sweat and humidity to be trapped inside. For those on the frontlines who are constantly wearing the most intensive types of masks (like ones with wire at the bridge of the nose for a See more
