Something you may or may not know: a bridal stylist hears the name Cinderella dozens of times a week. Most of the time it is used to describe a very princess-y gown, but that means different things to different people, so it’s not easy to nail down a singular style of gown that exclusively exudes Cinderella vibes. We also hear it when someone tries on a ballgown that has a skirt they feel is way too big for their shape. Like Cinderella means excessive or too fair...y-tale. I don’t find that to be a bad thing, but some just don’t like it. But my favorite is when I hear that name because a bride is describing the feeling of transformation they are experiencing after stepping into a gown they love. There’s something about Cinderella that has just encompassed our culture and set her upon a pedestal; an ideal fairy tale princess with great work ethic, a dream, and a happily ever after. And of course the parallel is that, as a future bride, you’re working your butt off to plan your dream wedding so that you could live that happily ever after... In a huge castle. A lot of us are really missing the experience of being at Gallifrey One this weekend so here’s a Doctor Who related post: One of the greatest Doctor Who episodes of all time (in my opinion) is Vincent and the Doctor. It’s about Vincent van Gogh, his struggles and his talent, and the amazing way that the Doctor can inspire a human, while that human can, in turn, inspire the Doctor right back. For those of you that saw our Instagram Story and took a guess at which character our model cosplayed in this gown: if you guessed Elizabeth Swann or a pirate, you’re right! Nothing fits the Elizabeth Swann vibe more than a big skirt and a fitted bodice... and a sword. This gown has the largest skirt in our shop and it’s full of glitter tulle!! We paired it with our most sparkly accessories (a pirate would accept no less) to pull it all together. ... Congratulations to this wonderful human who picked up her bridal gown yesterday!! Dayeanne was officially the first bride to say yes to her dress at Lorien back in July and today she picked up her dream dress that fit so well! Yay for minimal alterations!
