I want to thank our elections team and public safety personnel who worked hard across the city yesterday. We had no major incidents and all voting centers were safe and secure. Thank you to the community and let’s continue to stay safe in the days ahead.

Good morning, Long Beach. Polls are open and you can still drop off your ballot at a drop box today or at a polling center. You can find an in person polling site here: http://locator.lavote.net Or drop off your ballot here today by 8pm

Our elections team, the Long Beach City Clerk, and our public safety personnel have extensively prepared for a safe Election Day tomorrow. I’ve reviewed our plans and we are working to ensure that everyone can vote safely and that regardless of outcomes, the city stays safe in the days ahead.

This Halloween weekend, let’s be sure to have fun but also celebrate safely.

It has been one year since the tragic murders of Maurice Poe, Melvin Williams and Ricardo Torres while they were attending a Halloween-themed birthday party in our Rose Park community. Our thoughts and love continue to be with their families, loved ones, and all those impacted. Thank you to the LBPD and the community who have been working tirelessly over the past year to bring those responsible to justice. They have been arrested and will have to face the court for these horrific murders. We will never forget those lost.

Today is the day the Postal Service recommends you mailing your ballot by to ensure it arrives by Election Day and counted in the total that evening. All ballots postmarked by November 3 will still be counted but they may not be in the initial total. Mail today, or drop off the ballot at the polling boxes that are picked up daily by elections staff. Those in the boxes will be counted by Election Day. You can also vote in person through Election Day.

We appreciate the work our local Long Beach firefighters are doing to keep our neighbors safe.

The LA River bike ramp will be closed at Chester Place until the end of the year. Be sure to use the alternative route while construction is happening.

Attention Long Beach: if you still have a vote by mail ballot, we recommend sending it in this weekend. You don’t need a stamp and you can drop it off in your home mail box or at a polling drop off box in the image below. And starting today, if you want to vote in person, voting centers begin to open.
