This is the Old Abandoned & Haunted Joliet Prison located in Joliet, Illinois. Also known as the Illinois State Penitentiary on Collins Street. . The Joliet Prison was active from 1858 until 2002. The Prison shut down due to Budget cuts and also the outdated and unsafe reasons. The staff as well as Inmates moved to the Stateville Correctional Center. . The reasons why it is haunted is due to some of the most gruesome murders & violent deaths which took place inside of the Jol...iet Prison. There were a lot of serial killers Joliet held including some notorious ones. Inmates would kill other inmates and some even dismembered some.
