We are happy to answer Weathered Souls Brewing Co’s call to action and collaboration by way of beer and fundraising. Brewer Justin scheduled, in late April, a brew day to make a delicious Imperial Stout, with the intent to age it in barrels for a winter release. Brew day was May 8. In the weeks that followed, he meticulously kept an eye on this beer’s fermentation and development to get it just right. After the murder of George Floyd on May 25 and the ensuing Bla...ck Lives Matter marches across the country (and world), Weathered Souls Brewing Co spearheaded a collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily, to raise funds for police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged. With an Imperial Stout already in our tanks, and some overlap to the original recipe, the Loma brewing team decided this beer was indeed, Black is Beautiful. We at Loma Brewing Co wanted to focus our fundraising to benefit a local Bay Area youth program, and are thrilled and humbled to donate 100% of the proceeds of Black is Beautiful to the RYSE Center in Richmond, CA. Hand-picked by our owner, RYSE is a multi-faceted program and center, focused on providing local youth with resources for self-success, as well as the tools to build a better city and world.
